Merry Christmas ... from John and Wally (the dog you idiots) John Wrightington<attempt contact> Dallas, TX - Sunday, December 24, 2000 at 18:10:00 (PST) Okay - so I read Stuart's rehash of a most recent visit from Chewy and it definitely makes me realize that having kids takes up too much time! Stu - I will be coming out to LA in Feb, hope to smoke some stoggies and have some cocktails! I really think some of these posting should be published for the benefit of the web neophtyes. Amazing how you can catch up in a couple of minutes.... Chewy - When are you going to publish your "Chiefdom" memoirs? Casino - I can't say that we've meet, but my family's prayers are with you as you heal from treatment. My father-in-law was diagnosed two years ago and is doing terrific today (but he still complains his golf game hasn't gotten any better);-). Blair - I've got to remember to hook up with next time I'm in the "Burg". I end up going their to see the outlaws (too frequently). Small update for the other bothers out there. My family is set to expand again. As Bronte would say, with all of my "EO" traits, it's no wonder that my wife is expecting another girl in the first part of April. We are moving in another week into bigger digs to accomodate the family expansion, which happens to be 10 minutes away from IAH. So those of you passing through or overnighting, I'll actually have a guest room. Give me a call, I'll be glad to buy you a beer to get out of the house and away from all of the estrogen. I wish all of you a happy and healthy holiday! P.S. gratuitous shots of my daughter - http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/kenbott Kenny Bott<attempt contact> Houston, TX - Thursday, December 21, 2000 at 09:13:58 (PST) Hello to all of my brothers! Its amazing how quickly time has passed and how each of our lives has changed since we terrorized Daytona Beach. Who would have ever thought that Richard Schooley would be a wonderful doting father and a very successful broker. I was there for the birth of sweet Jessica Carmen Schooley and I have to say it was rather incredible. Rich was awesome and Carmen, to say the least, is amazing. I have also, in the recent past, have had the fortune to spend some time with brothers Hansen, Nimey, Williams (Chewy for those of you who only know him by his alias), Cassino, Cody, Spencer Smith and others. Nimey is doing extremely well in real estate and could be a proud new owner of an FBO soon. Lets keep our fingers crossed. He is involved in building an A-4 Skyhawk and a P-51 to compliment their T-34. Rough life! His wife, Amy, is a perfect compliment to his gentile disposition. She is a wonderful person to say the least. It was also great seeing Chewy and hearing about his fabulous job with AOPA. He is also entering the final stretch in law school. Very impressive! Chewy regailed Hansen and I with "Chiefs" stories while we were sitting on my deck, looking at the ocean, smoking cigars. I cannot remember ever seeing Hansen laugh so hard! "Chewy" for President! Spending time with Cassino lately has been most eye opening. He is the eternal optimist and is handling his current situation in such a manner that would make all of you proud to be his brother. Please continue your benevolent support, I know he appreciates it. I cannot wait to get on a TWA flight in the near future and hear Cassino's voice from the cockpit after he just bounced a landing. Speaking of bad landings, Spencer Smith just completed the first portion of his 757 & 767 training at TWA (no more MD-80's) and is going to be based here in LA. Go Spence!!! As for me, I am currently handling the Singapore Air Crash, China Air Crash, TAESA Air Crash, Egypt Air Crash, Silk Air Crash and Korean Air Crash, as well as countless other GA crashes and some business litigation and other serious personal injury and wrongful death cases. I just finished teaching my first semester as an adjunct professor of Aviation Law for ERAU. Its scary to think that I am now shaping young minds. "Professor Fraenkel", has a nice ring to it don't you think? Anyhow, enough psycho-babble. May all of you have a wonderful holiday season and keep the White Cross shining ever so bright! In Hoc. Blair<attempt contact> Pittsburgh, PA - Friday, November 24, 2000 at 14:15:39 (PST) Hello to all the brothers... just a little update from the undergrads. This past Saturday we initiated 12 new brothers, also know as Beta Rho. Their a good group and will do the house well. As far as the house goes, it's still standing, and we've just raised the appeal of living in here another notch. (As if we needed one?) Headed by brother Kienast, the pledges ran lines into 22 rooms in the house, plus the DJ booth outback, and we've networked the enitre house. A DSL line has been installed by BlueStar Communications, and we now have a full functioning LAN and high speed internet connection in the house. I'm sure it'll be put to good use, the porn capabilities have already been explored to full capacity by more than a few residents. Hmmm.. maybe some internet cameras and we can just have chapter online.. then everyone can be there. Some of may have heard and I may have talked to others, well anyway I was diagnosed with Cancer 3 weeks ago. I have Hodgkin’s Lymphoma stage IIb, which is cancer of the lymph nodes. My cancer is isolated in my abdomen just below my belt buckle. I am sure your next question is how did I find out that I had it. At the beginning of August I wasn’t feeling 100%, I had some fairly bad stomachaches with the occasional fever which I thought were stress related. I ignored them for most of the month and toward the end of August I noticed a lump (dun, dun, dun) on one of my lymph nodes. Anyway I saw my first doctor at the beginning of the September. At first they thought that it was an infection, that wasn’t it, then they thought it was a hernia, that wasn’t it, finally they ordered some blood tests and a CAT scan and viola’ they found those nasty tumors. “But Al what happens next?” you ask. First I have to take a break from flying. The real crappy thing is that I had just been hired by TWA and I was going to start class on October 5th but because I had to start chemotherapy I had to postpone my start date. The good thing is that TWA is holding my slot for when I am healthy. The really shitty thing is that I had already turned in my letter of resignation to Trans States Airlines when I found out that I had the cancer. I did ask for my letter back but the kind and understanding folks at TSA wouldn’t let me rescind my resignation. Yea, you gotta love corporate America. I still have insurance through CORBRA, but I have to pay the total premium on it. The doctor said that I should feel better in 6-8 months. I have moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles so I could go through Chemotherapy at UCLA and to be closer to my family. My Email will still be the same but my new address a phone is; 5192 Glenwood Circle LA Palma, CA 90623 Phone: (714) 994-2826 I had my first Chemo treatment on October 17th and so far so good. They say that I will loose my hair and I’ll be fairly fatigued but other than that I’ll be just fine. There are several kinds of chemo drugs taken in different combinations and AVDB is my particular cocktail. My next treatment is on Halloween and then every 2 weeks after that. I am doing pretty good so far and I know that I’ll be much better in the future, if you would like drop me a line I would appreciate it and if anyone is in Los Angles area please give me a call or just stop by. A special thanks to all the brothers that have called and emailed me to wish me the best and to offer help. It is times like these that the bonds of brotherhood come shining through like the sun into a darkened room. I’ll see you all at birthday. Unfortunately, the limo cost an extra 200 dollars after he soiled it w/the inside of his stomach the night of the bachelor party. Brother Myatt came to Baltimore and joined in the festivities. The wedding was really nice and Mike's new bride was treated to a rather off-key rendition of the "Sweetheart of Sigma Chi," but she loved it none-theless. If you go to J's soon, let Bridgette know that she should not become a photographer b/c all of the pictures she took during the ceremony looked like abstract art, but I got some pretty good ones anyway. Mike Saggese (Squiggy'91) got married last weekend outside of Duluth, MN. Brothers Greg Tennille, Rick Haberman, Dan Ward, Jon Burrows, Neil Campbell and yself, as well as Riddle alums Chris Dudzic and John Stumpf were in attendance. Now, Northern MN is a rather attractive place, especially the shores of Lake Superior and all. However, I have come to the conclusion that they should call it "Land of 10,000 Stagnant Lakes" instead. I mean, how many freakin bugs can you have in one state. Jesus, can't those people spray? Not to mention the fact that Squiggy struggles a little bit when it comes to a sense of distance. Saying that Duluth is just "right up the road" from MSP is like saying that you can get west of Dallas from Regan National without changing planes. It just ain't true. Anyway, we celebrated in true Eta Iota fashinon by consuming large quantities of alcohol (I mean, it is MN. What else do they do up there) in the course of having a really good time. John Wrightington<attempt contact> Dallas, TX - Wednesday, August 02, 2000 at 17:47:20 (PDT) Hello Brothers, I have found myself with a little extra time on my hands in my current assignment and just spent some of it checking out EtaIota.org. What can I say? It is great to read about so many of you doing so well. I cna't believe some of the things I read. My old roommate, John Belleau, married? So many others too and kids, are we prolific or what? As for me, I'm still in the Army, still a Captain. I should be promoted to Major in about 18 months, we'll see. I am currently doing time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the deputy intelligence officer for a major Army command here. For anyone considering a trip over here, think twice. It doesn't really fit the HI lifestyle, alcohol is illegal. On the bright side, I can get all the non-alcoholic beer and wine I care to drink. On the brighter side, the pay is great. Not only do I get extra money for being in a "hostile fire zone" (yeah right) but it is also tax free. I've been moving around about every three or four years since I left Daytona back in 91. I started out at Fort Huachuca, AZ for training. Went to Fort Riley, KS for about four years. Back to Huachuca for about three years. Then (I'm embarrassed to admit this) I was in Melbourne, FL for two years teaching ROTC at Florida Tech. I dropped by the house one night, but it just wasn't the same. I'll be here for a year and then hopefully I'll be able to swing an assignment at MacDill AFB in Tampa. My wife Marni (yeah, I married Gierhardts cousin) and I just bought a house in Cocoa Beach where I plan to retire when I get tired of playing Army. I'm going to do my best to stay in Florida (or Saudi) for the rest of my time in the Army so she and our son Alex (4 1/2) can stay in one house for a change. I can't seem to get over the coincidence that my pledge brother Pacheco and I both gave our sons the same name. I'll be taking leave in Cocoa Beach the whole month of December if everything works out right. If any of you are in the area then look me up in the phone book, I'll be trying to catch up on five months with no beer and a drinking companion is always welcome. I was not searching for it like that "ideal that we All looked for that night during that unforgetfull week a long or short time ago for some." (Top secret info. Think Constantine who....) Guys I swear to the man! I was simply looking for information about cheerleeding for my girlfriend through lycos and this website somehow came up. My exact entry in lycos or yahoo I can't remember which one, was "cheerleeding pictures". I just wanted to print her a picture to show her how kick ass our new hp932c printer was. This poped up, so I added it to my favorites and am checking it out today. Who started this? Maybe this was a sign to go to my brothers for help. Maybe a brother who is reading this will help solve my minor set back. I just landed an awesome dot com job 3 weeks ago. Last tuesday, 7 days into it I was layed off. Not because I suck or am lazy. Which I am neither but because they decided to shut down Columbus as well as 11 other cities. They yanked the whole sales force. My hiring manager didn't even know. Welcome to the world of dot come? Anyway it's been a week to this day and I have had one interview in a different type of sales. I was very excited about the old dot com that I just spent 7 days at an am finding it hard to gain back that enthusiasm. Does this sound familiar to you? If so please e-mail me. Maybe you have a friend of a friend who has a lead. This must be one of the reasons I found this website. I had a great time in the post initiation festivities and expecially the chapter meeting that Sunday. It is truly amazing how tremendous of a rejuvination a chapter meeting, especially at Eta Iota, brings. Sorry I missed the initiation. I hate how work has this nasty habit of interrupting my activities. It seems that we have a great bunch of guys just initiated. They seem awfully young. But then again, for some reason, each pledge class seems to get younger. They need a little help in directing all that enthusiasm they have right now. I don't think that our follow-up rush went as well as it should have. Only a few new rushees, with several potential candidates who were allowed to slip through the cracks. Younger brothers need to step up in that respect. Sorry I forgot to mention that Crazy Bob and Monkey Boy are in Fort Lauderdale also. I thought that everyone already knew, but after they lapsed into that pathetic, nagging state that only you old guys can manage, I feel compelled to mention that they are here, and so no one is safe. The chapter participation and quality of work/presentation was VERY VERY good; unfortunately, the same problem with having a decent place to hold everything took it's toll - cramped and incompatible. After getting lobbyed to turn the Country Club into a dedicated chapter room, I'm leaning in that direction (or just physically adding on a 40x20 foot room perpendicular to the EXCC. The new chapter advisor did a great job, Julio was there for his usual indispensable help and the chapter handled a very large pledge class as well as could be expected considering the shear volume (that is a compliment). House looked just fine; only the structural things really stood out as well as leaky ceiling tiles, etc. in the chapter room (so, what else is new, eh?). I recently got a promotion at American to Senior Analyst for Interactive Marketing...a lot of work on AA.com and the AAdvantage program. Cant wait to get paid to play on the internet. For those of you who knew about my previous position, I was a market analyst for South American markets (yes, the drug smuggling markets recently in the news) and had a hell of a last day. A volcano erupted in Quito, Ecuador shortly before T-giving and closed Quito airport for about 10 days (pictures available at http://www.geocities.com/johnvbanta/misc/uio.html). I was trying to get extra planes for as many passengers to fly out of alternate cities close by but there was no way we could accomodate all canceled passengers. So on my last day, I get a call from our Sales Manager in Quito telling me that one of our ticket agents have been taken hostage by 5 irate frenchmen in our downtown ticket office demanding to get confirmed on the next flight out of Dodge. Why did they call me? I have no idea. But what did I do? At first I thought this whole situation was pretty funny and advised them that it's our policy not to negotiate with terrorists (I heard the phone skidding across the room after that comment). But the agent who was in tears at this point really didn't think it was as comical as I did. I still don't understand why they chose to call me instead of security, but they did and we calmed the frogs down without any serious harm. I may have a future in hostage negotiations. I am out in Dallas flight instructing for ATP right now and I hope to be moving on to San Diego here in the next couple of weeks. Ann and I broke up a little while ago and now its time to start flying. I am flying every day and flying nothing but Seminoles. I can tell you that it is pretty cool to start flight instructing as an MEI and build the time this way. I will have more multi time than single by the time my hours will be built up to give me the mins for the commuters. Life is good and I have no complaints. I had the opportunity to visit the house recently and would like to thank all the brothers who i met for the first time who made my pilgrimage back to the house a welcome one. It was great to see some familiar faces as well, I wish all the best to the new alumns. Speaking of which, if anyone from house corps reads this, i couldn't help but notice the limited space (not to mention repair) left for composites and Pete Sigs. Perhaps you could work with the active chapter on revamping the current system. I for one would gladly donate towards this cause. ( OK not like the current commuter first officer pay is going to help much, but its the thought that counts!). In other news around the globe congratulaions to my Big Brother, Anthony Hammond who has turned his trusty fuel nozzle in, for a shiny pair of wings at trans states airlines. My fellow pledge brothers Kevin Parker and Bryan Cody (TWA) will be joing him, and I trust you guys will have fun in STL. I ran into Mike O'Donnel at the Dulles Airport and later on at the Reston Town Center, it appears that Rich Schooley is taking good care Mike, though I was disappointed that Rich was in bed by 1000 PM! Spence finally made the big leagues and is finishing up training in the MD-80's with TWA. Schooley is still making me and some of the other brothers money from his window office at Morgan, Stanley, Dean, Witter. Love that guy! Hansen is still struggling in the acting world and can be seen on numerous dating game reruns and prime time shows. The lucky guy gets to work with 7 of 9 on Star Trek Voyager (he says she has without a doubt the most impressive body on this planet). Nimey is expanding his good fortunes and real estate businesses to Florida and California (our next Howard Hughes). Zaccagnino is teaching at Flight Safety (Falcon) in the Northeast and abroad and touts the aircraft as being the best that there is. For myself, well the latest accolade involves my recent election to an officer position with the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (Aviation Section). Still travelling and having a great time. TO date this year I have been to Paris, Frankfurt, Brussels, Vienna, Budapest, Hawaii, Guam, Cairns and Brisbane Australia, Seoul, Korea, Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas (many, many times), Atlanta, Daytona, Dallas, Chicago, etc. Leave back to Hawaii and Guam next week. Eta Iota was one of only 32 of the 200+ chapters across the US & Canada received a Peterson this year and is one of a select group of about 10-15 chapers to have accomplished this at least three times in the past four years. My congratulations to the all the actives that worked so hard this year to earn this recognition, particularly to Curt Kienast who served as Peterson Chairman and was responsible for seeing that each requirement was met or exceeded. I look forward to seeing you continue your winning ways next year and beyond. I'm proud of you, guys! Julio Varela<attempt contact> Orlando, FL - Monday, August 09, 1999 at 10:12:18 (PDT) Just wanted to thank everyone who contributed to the painting that was presented to me earlier this month. I must say it is really an incredible piece of artwork and very much appreciated. Thank you all. My six years as Chap. Adv. of Eta Iota were certainly a "wild ride" at times but I wouldn't trade them for the world. In case you haven't heard, Grand Praetor Mark Burroughs has appointed a new CA for Eta Iota. His name is Kent Krause. Kent is a graduate of UMiami and lives in Orlando. He has been one of the local alums that I have counted on during my term...always participating in Alumni Nights during Rush and helping out on Sat mornings of Initiation. Kent will be attending Leadership Training Workshop next week with the undergraduate officers of Eta Iota which will give all of them an opportunity to begin planning for the new year. He's excited at being offered the opportunity to serve as CA and is looking forward to working with all of you to continue making Eta Iota better and better each year. I think he's a great choice for a replacement and think you'll all enjoy working with him. My best to all of you. Besides myself Jeff Penn and wife, Rob Pacheco and wife, Eric Zimmerman and wife, and Kenny Bott minus wife (she was ready to drop the kid any day) were all in attendance. A good time was had by all, and in typical Eta Iota fashion we were the last to leave the building. Some things don't change no matter how long it's been. Speant some time teaching across the system for a couple of years, but Raleigh is where I want to stay. Customer service can be a huge pain in the butt, so you have to look at it as a challenge. Have seen Dan Ward, Cheeks(Darin Chapmin), and Malcolm Macgregor all crawl out of the cockpit of aircraft at RDU.Quite frightening actually, especially in the case of Murdoch. If only those passengers knew. And funny thing, getting some feedback from ACA pilots, seems every wild story from the house is being retold by malcolm as if it happened to him. VERY SAD. Also see Leo Shamblin around town from time to time. Can't tell you what he's doing though. You know real hush-hush. Have heard from Reese, Chewy and Brad Bower recently. You'd be surprised how many bro's check out the guest book. And the cancer, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer april 1994. Had a toumor removed and a second major surgery 2 months later. (inserted from a later post: They had to cut one of my balls off and it was such a beauty, they put it in a glass jar and it's on display at the hospital. I just found the lump by chance. If I hadn't been groping myself I probably wouldn't be here. Kind of funny, within hours I had every male employee at ual-RDU feeling their balls. Moral of the story--FEEL YOUR BALLS If you can't because of religous reasons or whatever, have a friend do it.) It's been in remission for 5 years now and the doctors feel it will never return. We will continue to publish these updated directories from time to time. They are formatted so that when you print them you can generate a booklet (5 1/2 x 8 1/2). The document is 26 pages, Print pages 1-13, then reinsert the pages in your printer, to print pages 14-26 on the backs of pages 1-13. Fold, and staple and you've got your booklet directory! Paper directories are also available (order form on the House Corporation page), however, the electronic one will be more up do date and costs a lot less to produce than the paper directory. My daughter, Kristen Bonifield, will attend ERAU DB to study Engineering (wonder where she got that idea from) this fall. That probably means I'll visit a little more for the next few years. We will be in town 15 August 99. Kristen has to report early for Soccer preseason training. Oh by the way I expect a good Eta Iota turnout for soccer games. From what I've heard, the team can use some cheering. As for me, I'm still at Cessna in Wichita, KS. I'm a section chief in Engineering Flight Test. I am responsible for Engineering Flight Test for the 208 Caravan, 525 CitationJet, 650 series Citations and the 750 Citation X. I am managing development and certification of our newest 525A Citation CJ2. We have several ERAU engineers working for us. Wichita, with Cessna Boeing, Bombarier/Lear, and Raytheon (old Beech) has the largest ERAU Alumni group in the country. I don't know of any other Eta Iota Sigs though. I'll have to check the directory. If any sigs in the Daytona beech area are in the realestate business, let me know. I am getting too old to watch the sun come up two mornings in a row. Although, Dan Ward seating patrons at a local Denny's at 4:00 a.m. brings back a lot of fond memories. All in all it was a succesful wedding. No one got hurt. No one got arrested, and no one wrecked a rental car. Although I think the last one is a result of the fact that the parking brake on a mini-van is on the floor. I know, I looked for it before we ever left the airport. Best wishes to everyone. Come visit me on the Hill if you are in DC. Life is pretty routine now that impeachment is over. In Hoc, Chewy John "Chewy" Williams <John.Williams@mail.house.gov> Washington, DC - Monday, March 15, 1999 at 12:37:33 (PST) Brothers, House Corp has recently received a letter from National stating that Chet Hansra is back in good standing due to Nationals failure to convene on the case within their deadline. I am proposing a bylaw that would state, that any brother band from the house or who committed any crime against the house or HC would not be eligible to run for HC office. I would also like to nominate Brother Tom Kachmar for President and Morris Ford for Treasurer. Kevin Alston seconds these nominations. What an amazing year. Many of our brothers got married and have began a new journey with a partner. Other brothers have been blessed with legacies. The lessons of Sigma Chi are sure to be passed on for generations to come. There have been triumphs and failures, new loves and losses. Isn't life grand! God bless all of my brothers, their spouses and families. May 1999 bring happiness, prosperity and a new found devotion to the high standards and ideals of Sigma Chi. In Hoc. Stuart. P.S.
