Dear Brother Palmer

Peer pressure is a wonderful thing if done correctly ... I know you are a pilot, I know you are about to take a huge paycut because of your greedy brethren at UA, but ... pledge brother bullying only works when you also shower that pledge brother with Christmas gifts - the traditional box of Almaden Cabernet Sauvignon and a plastic wine glass.

Most cordially and In Hoc ...

I have an idea

Carson just moved out of the closet ... why not put the slot machine up there? Aside from the TV's Jarid knows of, since 1976, I've seen or heard of at least 10 tvs stolen from the house, etc. etc. Even a refrigerator got stolen from the kitchen DURING I-week!!. Come on folks, history doesn't need to repeat itself...

Just make sure you air out the closet before putting in the slot machine ... Carson has some bad habits (scrape the walls!)
http://Wrightington
Bogota (just shoot me) , Colombia - Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 13:52:29 (PST)
So how long will the slot machine last until it is stolen like the TV, the second TV, the weedwacker, the lawnmower, and all the other stuff that I might have forgot to mention like the stereo out from the backyard. Well get the point? make sure it is bolted down

Did "Rog" come out for SERE School? Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape school from the way I understand it. I get to take the journey through there too... but not until after flight training. I've heard some ugly stories out of that place... the lightest of which was the "Broken bone waiver" that they make you sign. Good training from what I hear though.

Things have been going pretty good here in the great state of Alabama. I just finished my flight training and have transitioned into the Blackhawk helicopter. I will fly the blackhawk here in Alabama until the end of March and then my family and I start our next assignment in Hawaii for the next couple of years! We our pretty stoked about that. I just completed SERE school which is survival training for you civilian folk, but it was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. My graduation is this weekend so we wont be able to come down for White Rose, but hope to visit soon! IN HOC.

Hey guys... Officer Candidate School is a bitch! Just gotta quick sec and a computer to say hi. Gotta Marine Drill Instructor thats about 6'4" and 230lbs of meat that can put the fear of god in you. Nothing like doing push ups and rifle PT in the sand, in your just-ironed perfect uniform and freshly polished shoes. That M1 rifle gets heavy. The whole program reminds me a lot like pledging with the mind games, but pledges don't do PT at 5am everyday and the Hazing is real. There's a Navy Seal in my class... the guy is a horse, and I've seen him whimpering a few times when we're getting mashed by the DI. Gotta split, Naval History exam in the morning plus god knows how many miles of running to do. Hope to see everyone at Fejfars wedding... if they let me outta here!

Help save these healthy family type horses in the U.S. from going to slaughter for meat for as little as 20 cents per pound!
The need is urgent, and contributions are tax deductable. Midwest Horse Rescue
On-line payments such as Paypal are accepted. No amount is too small.
We know ya can't save 'em all, but these would be a good choice. (this is not some whacko PETA thing, they most likely ended up here due to the high price of hay in the midwest because of this year's drought, and the farmer can't afford to keep them.)

... not to mention wasting booze by pouring it on someone

There have been pledges in our chapter that should have pillowcases over their heads but a little Clearasil would have been a better approach. Well, then there is Tom Alouf, that might require a king size pillowcase.
http://Wrightington
Bogota, Colombia - Thursday, October 24, 2002 at 15:41:58 (PDT)
from CNN:
"An investigation by Linder found that, among other things, pledges were made to sit for up to two hours with pillowcases over their heads while fraternity members yelled insults and poured alcohol on them.

Other fraternity members' actions included making pledges shave without shaving cream, keeping pledges awake by pounding on their doors, blowing horns and breaking beer bottles, and making pledges clean up bins of trash that had been tossed into halls.
Looks like this leaves the Ritual as an empty shell. Without this level of mindless harrassment how are we supposed to gain respect from our future brothers? I suppose we'll have to go back to jumping barefoot on rusty nails, or digging graves on the beach.

Brothers, Just got hired by Air Wisconsin and I start training on the 14th of October...I am going to be seniority #49 out of about 450 newhires in the next year (650 pilots right now), and that doesn't include the numbers for the new AirTran JetConnect operation in ATL that starts Nov. 15. The ATL base is opening as of Dec. 1. Upgrades are currently running just under a year in the Do-328 prop and dropping due to the new CRJs that are being delivered. I have been told that I cannot recommend anyone until I finish IOE, but as soon as that is over with I plan to start the hookups. Anyone interested drop me a line. They are looking for 121 time and about 2500-3000 hours.

Hooters Chairman Considers Vanguard
Thu Aug 15, 6:25 AM ET
By JOSH FREED, Associated Press Writer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Will Vanguard Airlines, known for its low fares, and Hooters Girls, known for their high-cut shorts, soon be corporate cousins?

Hooters of America Inc. chairman Robert H. Brooks is thinking about buying Vanguard, the Kansas City-based discount carrier that filed for bankruptcy protection and grounded its fleet last month. On Wednesday, a bankruptcy judge told Brooks he can give Vanguard $50,000 per week for the next three weeks to pay a skeleton staff, while Brooks examines the company's books and decides if he wants to buy.

Maugeri, I don't know why you would want to spend $150 on a "used cow", when instead you could have 75+ shares of US Airways for the same price... Hell maybe more by tommorow, perhaps a majority of the company by September for that price....

Anyway, starting in December (after a 3 month tenure at the luxurious FAA Academy), look for me at New York Center. Scary huh? Let's see, an undergrad degree, a few certificates, grad school and now I am going to be an Air Traffic Controller. Boy all I need is a law degree, a midlife crisis, and in a few years and I could be John Wright....

Well all, I am back among the employed, for now. USAirways Express...Shuttle America. SF340 F/O. I passed the training and I can officially say that I believe I was screwed over by Mesaba. I got 5 days off for the Vegas trip, so I am looking forward to that. I am now single, and for good this time. Carol and I broke up again the other day. I am moving to Ft. Wayne, Indiana. I am not sure what that is going to be like, but I think that a good indicator would be the sign that I saw while I was driving up there on one picket fence..."USED COWS FOR SALE, Still in good Shape, Only $150, Your Choice."...I dont want to know what they were used for. Oh yeah, I was asked to stand up in Fejfars Wedding, so please dont throw anything at me while I am up there Banta or Lojko. In Hoc Miggi

There was a time when I uste to use Amtrak to go from state to state!
Now with the negligance of the people who wrent these tracks out to
other rail companies.
Theres has to be a better way of cleaning up all the greety peolpe who
think it's funny when there are train wrecks. Well, the time is coming
now to the 2003. When will people start doing the jobs they were hired
to do! "What and I say What" if this was your family going on AMTRAK
and there was a really bad and I mean BAD! What would you do if your family
got Killed? In all of this If ervery RailRoad worker would help and change

change starts it can be more easyier and all bad track's removed and replaced

Congratulations to my little bro who starts his new job in september with New York Center. Justin Dailey--Air Traffic Controller. God help us all. The FAA must really be desperate to fill those spots.

On another note... got back from England a few weeks ago. Lets just say that Eta Iota is making a name for itself on a global scale now (7 bros there--that makes it a chapter function, right?). Those guys know how to have a good time, though Romano and I had to go home before things really got out of hand.

Brothers,
Spent the past week in Washington DC (AKA Eta Iota North) and caught up with a couple of brothers. Somethings never change. Bus is still goofy Bus, only now he has a government job building ejection seats. Jarid is still bald, but drives a BMW and no longer has a thing for "bigger" girls. Darren still has the "Vanilla Ice" haircut. Hope to see more brothers at Julie and Tony's wedding in July. Schooley, thanks on behalf of the chapter for the pressure you're putting on the school over this greek thing. I myself have been wrestling with the money nazi's at ERAU over a matter of a $70 parking ticket that I APPARANTLEY got in May at school (I graduated in December and moved to Tampa, figure that one out.) They actually sent me one of those alumni donation request's the other day, when they are still trying to pry $70 out of me, and are holding my transcripts from the US Navy till the get their money. ERAU will never see a dime from me, but HI will.

I just learned of Ryan Donley's death and I would like to comment on how sad I was to hear about it. I was Ryan's next door neighbor for about six years and we used to do everything together and he moved away when he was about 10 or so and that was the last I heard from him. Then just the other day I was driving through Wheeling and for no reason Ijust started thinking about him and all the crazy things we used to do, for example when the first Batman movie came out we made our own version of it and he was the Joker and he stuck cotton balls in the sides of his cheeks and I was Batman it was just alot of fun. I also remember that we went to his cabin in Piedmont and while we were there we went for a walk and a tree for no reason just fell over and he pushed me out of the way and pretty much saved my life. So even though I have had no contact with Ryan since I was about eight I still thought about him and wondered what he was doing with his life. I guess unfortunately I know and I would just like to add that I have always considered Ryan a true friend and I wish I could have kept in contact with him.

I heard about Leo's passing this weekend. I know I am echoing words here, but he was one of the truly nice guys that I have had the honor to meet, and also had a pretty good sense of humor. Also (and I know Leo is going to hit me with a lightning bolt for this one), he had the dirtiest feet anyone had ever seen. (Insert joke starting with: "His feet were so dirty that..." here) He constantly wore these old flip-flops, but I don't think he ever washed his feet. Hence the nickname "Shoeless Leo." One Halloween, low on cash as usual, he used his old orange motorcycle rain suit and dressed up as "Agent Orange." Pretty funny. His room was also legendary not only for it's "lack of aesthetic charm", but also the fact that Leo NEVER let anyone in. If you don't believe anyone could have an "unpleasing" room in the House: When the Fire Marshal and Building Inspector came to inspect the House in '88 (the cause of the big "reconstructiion"), the first room they inspected was Leo's. While the Building Inspector was taking notes as he inspected Leo's room, he looked over at his aide and said, "I'm going to need more paper." You knew it was all over then. I also remember watching the House with Leo over Christmas break. We had a LOT of beer and went to Blockbuster and rented all of Arnold Schwartzenegger's movies and stayed up for hours watching them, keeping a running body count for each movie (the winner at the time was "Commando" FYI). There's a lot of other stories: His get-rich-quick schemes and the time he had me write a computer program for him to predict winners at the dog track (Come on, if that worked, would I be working right now?), but there's not enough room here. I'm gonna miss you Leo. Sometime this week, raise a glass to Leo Shambin, remember him, and smile.

Just heard about Leo from Gumby. A 'train wreck' ... well, maybe, but a really nice guy. I'll never go barefoot again ... For you that remember living in the house when Leo was there - wasn't it classic that very few Brothers ever saw the inside of his room? I still have memorized the 8th founder 'dialogue' ... 30th Birthday Party CD info

I spoke with Gassi about the 30th birthday party CD he has been working on. It is not just pictures from the party on CD, but a much bigger project, including scanning many old scrapbook pictures, and then remounting the pictures in new books. He says:

>>I've been really busy at work lately with 2 new products going out the door
this month, so the CD has been on hold for several months. So far I have 200
pictures digital & scanned pictures. Last fall I made a couple trips to
Florida and brought home about a dozen of the most damaged scrapbooks. My
plan is to scan the images for the CD, then rebuild the scrapbooks and
return them to the house.

My schedule is going to lighten up next month and I should be able to
complete the CD sometime this summer.<<

True secrets of Sigma Chi revealed

1. after three beers, it really doesn't make a difference what brand it is
2. the only time a garbage can is emptied into the dumpster is when there is an active pledge class or someone's parents are coming to town
3. if someone is in the pool for more than 15 minutes, they've pee'd into it
4. planting grass in the front of the house is about as futile as moderating a peace plan in the Middle East

Now, here's some technology we can use!!! It's great to see all these technological advancements put to a good purpose.

Big Lar.... You interested? It's gotta be a better investment than Enron stock. My favorite line of the ad is "DO NOT-DO NOT- SEND CLIENTS AND TALK TO STAFF!!Books and inventory available with signing of non-disclosure." Hmmmm..... Seems like they're really trying to emphasize this point. Wrightington, you're down there now, right? Any way we could get this place protected under some sort of historical association program. There's a lot of history there.

Brothers,

Moved to back Dallas with Catie back in November, and things are starting to return to normal. Got a job with AirTran on September 10, 2001, and the best thing about it is I still have it. Those of you who are interested in working there I have had success in getting one CommutAir buddy an interview, with 1000 hours 121 pic and about 4000 hrs total. I guess they can finally be selective, 'cause he didn't get the job. Oh well he probably didn't have a chance once they found out he knew me! The airline is expanding slowly, but word is pilot new hire classes are temporarily on hold. Clearly this is being done, so in six months they'll need 100 pilots yesterday and will drown the training department so they can be suffiently backed up. I turned twenty-nine last year and decided to rejoin the Army in the form of the Texas Army National Gaurd. I'm going through Officer Candidate School, and can promise you there are easier ways to get back in shape. I'm telling myself its plan B, but really I just want to be 18 again! Here's my new cell 214-284-4895, been slacking on updating sooner.
Hope everyone is recovery from last September, feel free to give me a shout if I can help.

Shout out to Myatt slumming it with me in the LGA.

Howdy!

As usual, I will be walking in the MS Walk this year. As you probably know, Susan (my wife) was diagnosed with MS on Christmas day of 1999. Last year, thanks to many of you I was able to raise over $1,200 dollars. This year I would like to beat that amount.

If you're interested in joining us for the walk, please register on-line at www.msandyou.org or call 202-296-5363. The walk is Saturday, April 20th, and we're doing the Washington, DC walk that starts at Tony and Joe's restaurant at the Washington Harbor and ends at Glen Echo. We will meet at registration at 9:00 AM (near Tony and Joe's). We're walking as a team this year, so when you register, our team name is "Mad Cows" and it's a "Friends and family" team. The team captain will be Susan Aguilar. We each need to register and collect pledges individually - NMSS will figure out our team totals themselves. We'll have t-shirts for everyone, so please email me back to confirm how many people are coming with you ASAP. (Reese.Aguilar@marriott.com)

If you are not interested in walking or collecting pledges but would still like to make a donation, feel free to send me a check. Donations are tax deductible. Any amount is welcome!!

Checks should be made out to: "NMSS"

My mailing address is:

Thanks very much for your support!

I wasn't going to say anything, but since Big Lar broke the silence, I think there was a typo in Wrightington's last posting. I believe it should have read: "we may be more challengED than even we thought possible". Frankly I thought publicly acknowledging voluntary association with Gorf and Gumby to be a gutsy move.

Gorf, Gumby, and Schmuck playing croquet? Three of the most uncoordinated people on Earth drinking and handling mallets and heavy wooden balls...are hardhats and body armor going to be issued to the hapless bystanders for protection from them?

the croquet scam of 2001 during the 30th was an insult to the game, the institution and the very lifeblood of the game of croquet. Justin, the weasel, was just too looped on the boxed wine (a fine Almaden Merlot from 2001) so he had to take his frustrations out on the poor alumni. BTW, Kingsley and I have been practicing with Gorf and we may be more of a challenge than even we thought possible.

With only a month till birthday, I am suprised not to see a post from Wrightington about his anti-golf outing, croquet. Perhaps it's beacause of the beating he was issued during the croquet tournament during 30th birthday, when he was forced to cross the street to retrieve his ball from the front yard of one of the many fine estates behind 520 S Ridgewood.. At any rate, I hope John comes out of croquet retirement and brings his croquet set and boxed wine to birthday, so I may issue him another whooping and leave his ego in tatters.

By the way if anyone travels to Buffalo (Besides Trevor who was in town and didn't call me.....), email me, it isn't warm here, but there are places with J's quality wings, and much better draft beer... can't run a tab at them though....

I just remembered why I love California so much. I woke up in South Bend, IN (33 F)finished my trip in Chicago (30 F) then flew home to Cali where it is 88 beautiful degrees. And to all you fellow pilots out there, clear the skies because I am back up there. I finished training at Chicago Express last week and now I am a line pilot. Life is good!

Brothers,

I pleased to announce that last night, after 125 days in the hospital, our son Austin was released and allowed to come home. All the prayers you provided payed off and are very much appreciated.

Poor little guys is going to have to spend the first few months of his life with Dad. As the bottom of our list caught up to me, I go on furlough effective March 1. I'm planning on staying home as Mr. Mom until Theresa finishes the school year.

I, as well as, the rest of AHP would like to thank all of HI Brothers for the great time we had at the basketball game in Flagler a couple of weeks ago. We all had a really great time (at least from what I can remeber I think we did). I'm afraid the ERAU Masscot will have to be retired due to the massive amounts of blue and gold paint on his head (oops). I hope we can get together and do more joint Fraternity ventures. Thakns again. Fraternally, Kahuna
