MAY 2010 House Corporation Update

Brothers,

It is my pleasure and honor to serve as the Eta Iota House Corporation President for the 2010-2011 term and I look forward to addressing our challenges and celebrating our successes. I want to thank all of you for your continued support and commitment to HC and the Brotherhood of Sigma Chi. Congratulations to Brothers Penn and Vomacka for their new/continued role as HC trustees.

In a communiqué to our Executive Board and Trustees earlier, I stated that my goals and objectives are simple: focus on the basics. The primary reason HC exists is to provide adequate, safe, livable housing options for our undergraduate Brothers. I feel this is accomplished through sound fiscal policy, delegation and accountability of our trustees and our officers. During the month of May, the HC executive officers will be discussing the 2010-2011 budget to include dialogue on current and future proposed projects, rent, RMF and the installation of the mandatory monitored fire alarm system. Details of those discussions will be posted through the fraternity website.

Additionally, there are many milestone type events that your HC team is preparing for that include Embry-Riddles “Wings and Waves” oceanside airshow set for the Fall of 2010, possible involvement in the Tri-Province (North, Central and South Provinces) Weekend Workshop hosted by the brothers of Eta Iota scheduled for early Spring, 2011 and the capstone 40th birthday celebration tentatively scheduled for the first/second week in April of next year.

To that end, it is my hope that we will reengage our alumni brothers to participate not only with financial support but also to assist as mentors and leaders to our fellow undergraduates so that we may all may grow while continuing to challenge each other to live up to those obligations that we have voluntarily taken upon ourselves.

On behalf of the Eta Iota House Corporation, we look forward to a great year!

IHSV,

Robert Tetrault
