What is the money used for?

1855 Club was set up as a long term savings plan with the intent of funding a new fraternity house and to provide for significant capital improvement projects at our current house.    The university has confirmed that they have no medium or long term plans to develop a Fraternity Row; therefore, the House Corporation has directed additional funding from the 1855 Club Fund to improve the current infrastructure.
The rent paid by the active chapter covers Risk Management Foundation (property and liability insurance), and a significant payment for house maintenance.

How can I donate?

We have three methods of donating directly to the House Corp to suit your needs: bank draft, credit card/PayPal, and check.

You may also donate through the University in order for your donation to be tax deductable.

Bank Drafts

(click here to donate by bank draft)
Eta Iota House Corp has purchased software that allows us to create bank drafts from the information you provide us from your checking account. This is similar software to what is used by major companies that accept virtual checks over the phone.

The software allows us to make the drafts completely in-house so it is just as safe as writing a check. Furthermore, the drafts are printed on special stock check paper that has security micro-printing on it to prevent any unauthorized copying of checks.

With bank drafts you can authorize a one-time annual payment or recurring monthly payments.    Most existing 1855 Club members use this method and it is the easiest and most affordable option to transfer funds.

Automatic drafts can be put on hold temporarily or completely canceled right away. Just call or email the House Corporation Treasurer, and your contributions (starting with your next one) will be stopped. You can also resubmit the form using updated numbers or select the "Cancel" option.

If you choose to print out the form and mail it in, you may send the completed authorization forms should be sent (along with a voided check, if available) to our House Corporation Treasurer

Credit Card (Paypal)

Donations may be made using any major credit card. All you need is a Paypal account.  This option provides for a single payment.   Very few 1855 donors have used this option yet it provides another option.

If you are not yet a member, please indicate that we referred you by entering 1855club@etaiota.org in the appropriate field when prompted.

Are my contributions tax-deductible?

Direct donations to the House Corporation are not tax-deductible.   A process is now in place to channel donations through the University that enables tax-deductable contributions to be made.
